Zindagi Now Project
Sustainable Livelihoods and Market Access
Zindagi Now is committed to creating sustainable income opportunities for Afghan women and men by connecting skills development with real economic opportunities. Beyond training, the organization focuses on helping participants transform their knowledge, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial abilities into reliable sources of income that support long-term financial independence and community resilience.
Through its jewelry design, production, and gemstone-processing programs, participants gain practical experience in creating market-ready products while developing an understanding of customer expectations, product quality, and professional business practices. The organization works to bridge the gap between training and employment by supporting artisans in accessing local and international markets, strengthening their ability to generate sustainable earnings from their skills.
During training, participants may receive support to help reduce barriers to participation, including assistance with transportation, meals, and other essential needs. This enables individuals from vulnerable and low-income households to fully engage in learning and skills development opportunities.
A key objective of the program is to create pathways to economic self-reliance. Graduates may pursue employment within established production workshops, engage in home-based production, join cooperative business initiatives, or establish their own small enterprises. Because jewelry production and related artisanal activities can often be conducted from home-based workshops, participants are able to continue earning income while balancing family and community responsibilities.
In addition to technical training, participants receive guidance in entrepreneurship, branding, pricing, customer engagement, marketing, and business development. These skills help artisans understand market trends, identify customer needs, present products professionally, and build sustainable businesses capable of reaching broader markets.
By combining vocational skills, business training, mentorship, and market access opportunities, Zindagi Now empowers women and men to move beyond short-term assistance toward sustainable livelihoods. The program strengthens economic resilience, supports household income generation, and contributes to the long-term development of communities across Afghanistan.
Zindagi Now Project
Marketing
A critical part of the Zindagi Now project and key to its future success and providing sustainable income to Afghan women is increasing sales. This aspect requires developing a wide range of new designs to attract high-end clients, investing in promotional and marketing actions, and eventually developing a brand identity. Typically, in the high-end jewellery market, this means paying for a PR partner to promote stories in the press and hiring a company to find potential wholesale or retail outlets. It may also mean buying space at specific events such as the New York or Paris Fashion Weeks. The Zindagi Now project envisages obtaining the resources to contribute to these activities.
