Zindagi Now Project
Education and Access to Clean Water for Refugee and Returnee Children
Zindagi Now is committed to ensuring that every child has access to quality education and essential services, regardless of their circumstances. Through our community-based school programs, we provide learning opportunities for refugee, returnee, and internally displaced children who face significant barriers to accessing formal schooling in Afghanistan.
Many children returning from neighboring countries have experienced interruptions in their education due to displacement, migration, poverty, language barriers, limited access to schools, and inadequate basic services. Our education programs are designed to help these children reintegrate into learning, develop foundational academic skills, and build the confidence needed to succeed in their educational journey.
Working closely with local communities, parents, and educators, Zindagi Now establishes safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environments where students can learn, grow, and thrive. Our programs focus on literacy, numeracy, life skills, and educational support tailored to the needs of children who may have missed years of schooling or who require additional assistance to transition into formal education.
In addition to education, Zindagi Now recognizes that access to clean and safe drinking water is essential for children’s health, well-being, and ability to learn. Many refugee and returnee families live in communities where access to safe water is limited, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases and affecting school attendance and academic performance. To address this challenge, we support communities by providing access to clean drinking water through water supply initiatives, safe water points, and awareness programs that promote healthy hygiene practices. By ensuring that children have access to safe water both at school and within their communities, we help create healthier environments where learning can flourish.
Alongside classroom instruction, we provide educational materials, school supplies, hygiene kits, clean drinking water support, and recreational activities that promote student well-being, participation, and engagement. We believe that education extends beyond academics and plays a vital role in fostering resilience, self-confidence, social inclusion, and hope for the future.
Our teachers receive ongoing training and support to ensure that learning remains student-centered, inclusive, and responsive to the unique challenges faced by displaced and vulnerable children. Through regular assessments and community engagement, we monitor student progress and work to create pathways for learners to continue their education within the formal school system whenever possible.
By investing in both education and access to clean water, Zindagi Now is helping refugee and returnee children rebuild their futures, develop essential skills, and become active contributors to their communities. Our goal is to ensure that every child, regardless of background or circumstance, has the opportunity to learn, stay healthy, achieve their potential, and pursue a brighter future.
